'A Great Awakening' Is Coming

New York, NY. (PRWEB) July 13, 2007 - The Rhonda Schaller Studio one of the fastest growing galleries of independent, emerging and established artists and photographers exhibiting in Chelsea, NYC, will open "A Great Awakening" on July 14.

The exhibition will be on view from July 14 through August 4, 2007. Opening reception on Thursday July 19th from 6-8pm. Blue Pearl Press will publish a color catalogue featuring works from the exhibition.

A Great Awakening features one - two example works from each of its selected 29 artists curated from the gallery's inventory of Art Link Network artists. Works were selected for their exploration of memory and mind, and the places within the psyche where they meet. These works capture a view of the artist and the world she/he inhabits. A world that is distinct, rooted in myth, place or personal history.

Contorted, distorted, and fantastic animals appear to confront us; nudes stand calmly exposed while others appear in costumes of color; faces haunt entire canvases and landscapes exist compressed in tight urban spaces or open fields. From the elegance of porcelain to the raw colors of pastel, intricate fiber to textured encaustic, we see a thread of continuity though a diversity of mediums.

Featured artists include Alysia Kaplan, Amelia M. Falk, Angela Ellsworth, Chris Carter, Dasha Ziborova, David Orr, Eric Chan, Fernando Ferreira de Araujo, Hyo-in Byun-Wiesner, Jamie Redmond, Jeonghan Yun, John D'Agostino, Karen Abboud, Karen Maru, Kathy Hughes, KD Moore, Elizabeth Leader, Marv Poulson, Mike Bell, Naomi Duenias, Odette England, Rebecca Morton, Rees Shad, Richard Del Rosso, Rhonda Schaller, Stacie Uhinck, Yoon Soo Lee, Mare Vaccaro and Yvonne Wilhelmi.

Rhonda Schaller Studio is a rapidly growing Chelsea Gallery featuring photographers, emerging artists, and re-emerging artists in Museum and public collections.

About Rhonda Schaller Studio

Last year, Rhonda Schaller Studio was founded as a fresh approach to the art world. It is a working artist studio, mentoring space, and art gallery. It is a place to give emerging and re-emerging artists a chance to show in New York, document their artwork in exhibition catalogues, and enable them to move their careers forward. Through juried exhibitions, expanded website exposure, round-table discussions and gallery exhibitions, Rhonda Schaller Studio has exposed a greater community to the engaging and thought-provoking work of close to one hundred artists. Currently, the gallery represents six artists exclusively, and over 60 in its non-exclusive Art Link Network, artists now at varying stages in their careers. The goal is to show work that is not only of contemporary interest, but will be of lasting art historical significance.

The mission of the gallery is to navigate the Manhattan art world with integrity and passion, and provide a selection of soulful and thought provoking imagery of American and International artists as a source of commentary, personal or cultural reflection, and public enjoyment. Artists, emerging and re-emerging, are essential to this process, and those so engaged help to transform the collective mindset towards a nobler future.

The publishing arm of the Rhonda Schaller Studio is Blue Pearl Press: providing Print on Demand artist monographs and catalogues for individual artists.
